No, this isn’t an April Fool’s joke.
The Chicago Bears announced Thursday that the team will wear four different jersey combinations in 2019. They include the traditional navy (home) and white (away) jerseys, an alternate orange jersey, and a new classic jersey that will be unveiled on June 7.
The Bears fooled fans (me included) on April 1 when they joked that the club will wear triple-digit numbers in their 100th season, but a special jersey announcement was hinted by George McCaskey at the owners’ meetings last month.
Don’t expect anything crazy with the jersey, however. The Bears have maintained their color scheme for decades and if they’re going to stay true to the franchise’s roots, the commemorative jersey will probably be pretty boring.
