Oct. 04--The assignment: Stopping Raiders defensive end Khalil Mack
Mack's measurables: 6-foot-3, 250 pounds
Assigned: Bears right tackle Kyle Long
Mack, the No. 5 pick in the 2014 draft, had two sacks against the Browns last week. ... He recorded 84 tackles and four sacks during a solid rookie season as an outside linebacker.
Scouting report: Don't be fooled by Mack's ordinary career sack total. He is without question a disruptive rusher off the edge who can keep a quarterback worrying. What's more, Mack is a hammer against the run. He has good balance and plays with intensity. Bears coach John Fox singled out Mack's elite ability to convert speed into power. Mack's two sacks last week came on the same series. On the first, he torched fullback Malcolm Johnson with his quickness. Eight plays later, an explosive spin move around right tackle Mitchell Schwartz led to a strip sack. Long, making his fourth career start at right tackle, will play without a cast on his right hand for the first time since Week 1 when he dislocated his fingers.
Word from within: "You see him being very disruptive from play one until the end of the game. He's getting to see the things that he didn't see in college and you can see how he's really developing into an elite player. His strength and speed are special." -- Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase on Mack
