Bears Week 3 Injury Report: Eddy Pineiro questionable with right knee injury

The Bears’ hero from their Week 2 win against the Broncos may be unable to follow up his performance in Week 3 against the Redskins.

According to the Bears, kicker Eddy Pineiro is questionable for Monday night’s game with a right knee injury, joining TE Trey Burton (groin), S Eddie Jackson (shoulder/knee) and RG Kyle Long (hip) with that status on the injury report. DE Bilal Nichols (broken hand) has already been ruled out.

Pineiro was a late addition to the report after suffering a minor knee injury in the weight room. According to Adam Jahns of The Athletic, Pineiro did not kick on Friday, but he practiced Saturday. Coach Matt Nagy didn’t seem too concerned about the injury.

“I really do think he will be OK,” Nagy said.

If Pineiro can’t give it a go, the Bears could bring in K Elliott Fry, a free agent who spent most of the offseason and half of the preseason competing with Pineiro for the job.

Fry was released in mid-August and spent the rest of the preseason with the Baltimore Ravens before getting cut. He was 1-for-2 on field goals with the Bears and 2-for-2 with the Ravens during the preseason.

Pineiro, meanwhile, is 4-for-4 on field goals, including his game-winning 53-yard field goal to give the Bears a 16-14 win last week in Denver. He was the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
