Bears Week 2 Injury Report: Trey Burton remains day-to-day

The Chicago Bears returned to practice on Wednesday to begin preparation for the Denver Broncos on Sunday, where a familiar face returned to practice.

It wasn’t the one you’re probably thinking.

Offensive lineman Rashaad Coward was a full participant in practice after suffering an elbow injury during a preseason game on August 16.

Tight end Trey Burton, however, remains day-to-day with a mild groin strain, as evidenced by his limited participation in practice on Wednesday.

While Bears coach Matt Nagy was cautiously optimistic about Burton’s return in Week 2, it wasn’t encouraging to hear that Burton’s status is still up in the air.

“I cannot be any more honest or forthcoming on Trey Burton,” Nagy said before practice Wednesday. “Everything I got, I’m telling (the media). We’re going to see how he does. If he does good, let’s see how he does the next day. And then if we get to it, we feel he’s good to go and we all collaborate on it, then let’s roll.”

Nose tackle Eddie Goldman was also a limited participant in practice, with the official injury report citing an oblique injury. Nagy will likely comment on Goldman’s status when he meets with reporters on Thursday.
