Bears Week 1 Injury Report: Trey Burton limited in Monday practice

The Bears are relatively healthy heading into Thursday’s season opener against the Packers, as evidenced by the first injury report of the season.

Tight end Trey Burton was limited in practice on Monday with a minor groin strain while swing tackle Rashaad Coward did not practice as he recovers from an elbow injury sustained in the Bears’ second preseason game.

While Burton has been recovering from sports hernia surgery this spring, the Bears insist that his latest groin injury is unrelated to his offseason surgery.

Burton’s mild groin strain is said to be day-by-day. While Burton’s limited participation in practice isn’t a guarantee that he’ll play Thursday, it’s certainly encouraging.

The Packers, on the other hand, aren’t as lucky. Several starters were either limited or did not practice on Monday, including tight end Jimmy Graham, cornerback Kevin King and linebacker Oren Burks.

We’ll learn more as injury reports continue to trickle out leading up to Thursday’s opener.
