Bears waive WR Marvin Hall

The Chicago Bears are in the midst of trimming their roster from 90 to 53 and the first somewhat surprising cut has been revealed.

WR Marvin Hall, signed as a free agent in March, has been waived by the team, according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Hall played the last two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, appearing in all 16 games in 2018 and hauling in 10 receptions for 149 yards and one touchdown. He also contributed on special teams, serving as the primary kickoff returner.

Going into offseason activities, Hall was considered to be on the roster bubble. But after a few strong showing in the spring, flashing during training camp, and sitting out of the team’s final preseason game against the Tennessee Titans, the thought was the speedster solidified a spot on the final 53. Hall even told Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times he believed he had made the team following the game.

Hall’s release signifies the team will likely stick with six wide receivers; Taylor Gabriel, Anthony Miller, Cordarrelle Patterson, Riley Ridley, Allen Robinson, and Javon Wims.

Final rosters must be finalized by 3pm CST on Saturday, August 31.
