Bears waive rookie WR Emanuel Hall

The battle for the final wide receiver spot became a bit more clear Tuesday morning as the Chicago Bears announced they waived rookie undrafted free agent WR Emanuel Hall.

Hall, a speedster out of the University of Missouri, was pegged as a mid-round selection in the 2019 NFL Draft. But due to injury and attitude concerns, he went undrafted and signed with the Bears, hoping to earn a roster spot in a crowded wide receiver group.

The move comes as a bit of a surprise this early in the preseason. Hall had struggled with injuries throughout most of camp and missed the Bears’ first preseason game against the Carolina Panthers.

Hall’s release almost guarantees that wide receivers Marvin Hall and Javon Wims to will secure the final receiver spots on the 53-man roster. Both players had good camps, particularly Wims, who shined in almost every practice. And Marvin Hall provides the deep threat the Bears were hoping to get in Emanuel Hall.
