May 12--Khaseem Greene's time with the Bears appears to be up. The third-year linebacker was waived as part of a series of roster moves Monday.
Greene, a fourth-round draft pick in 2013, played in 25 games with the Bears, including six starts during his rookie season. He made 60 1/2 tackles on defense with an interception and a forced fumble.
Greene saw much of his playing time on special teams and now will seek a new start elsewhere as the Bears' new regime continues to tweak the roster.
General manager Ryan Pace also terminated the contract of veteran defensive lineman Austen Lane on Monday and added four players: quarterback Pat Devlin, defensive tackle Terry Williams, linebacker Kyle Woestmann and tight end Chris Pantale.
The first three were tryout players at last weekend's three-day rookie minicamp. Devlin signed a one-year deal and Williams and Woestmann signed three-year contracts. Pantale was claimed off waivers from the Jets, giving the Bears eight tight ends and bringing the roster to the maximum of 90.
Pantale, 25, appeared in five games last season without making a catch. He's the third tight end added since the beginning of the voluntary offseason program, joining veteran Bear Pascoe and undrafted rookie Brian Vogler. Starting tight end Martellus Bennett has skipped the offseason program as he aims for a pay raise.
Devlin spent the latter portion of last season on the Vikings practice squad. He entered the league in 2011 as an undrafted free agent out of Delaware, signing with the Dolphins and spending his rookie season on their practice squad.
Greene became the odd man out in a competition at inside linebacker that includes Christian Jones, Shea McClellin, Jon Bostic and Mason Foster.
