Bears waive DL Abdullah Anderson

The Chicago Bears waived DL Abdullah Anderson on Monday, perhaps in order to create a roster spot for QB Tyler Bray, who currently resides on the practice squad.

Starting QB Mitch Trubisky suffered a dislocated left shoulder, which is likely to sideline him for a couple of weeks. Backup Chase Daniel is expected to get his first start this season when the Bears play the Raiders in London on Sunday.

So it’s expected that Bray will be promoted from the practice squad and activated as Chicago’s backup QB against the Raiders.

Anderson, who was promoted to the active roster to add depth to a banged-up defensive line, is likely a candidate to be signed to the Bears’ practice squad if he makes it through waivers.

This might be good news for DL Akiem Hicks, who missed his first start as a Bear on Sunday with a knee injury. Hicks was a game-time decision, but he was shelved against the Vikings, although he was close to playing.
