Bears unveil classic uniforms to celebrate 100th season

The Bears officially unveiled the classic uniform that they’ll sport to celebrate their centennial season at their Bears100 Celebration on Friday night.

The classic uniform is inspired by the one donned by the Bears for one season in 1936. The uniform features white jerseys, with the Bears100 patch, navy and orange stripes on shoulders, sleeves and the helmet, as well as navy numbers and letters, navy pants and navy and orange-striped socks.

“Our classic uniform in our centennial season was a one-hit wonder in 1936,” said Bears chairman George H. McCaskey. “Bronko Nagurski and his teammates wore these on their way to a 9-3 record. We can only imagine what the fans’ reaction was to the uniform way back when. We hope today’s fans like it; they’ll certainly be talking about it.”

The Bears will wear the classic uniform twice this season in games against the Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 29 and the Cowboys on Dec. 5. Both of those games are at Soldier Field.

This 1936 jersey will replace the 1940s classic jersey the Bears wore twice last season. In addition to this 1936 jersey, the Bears will also wear their alternate orange jersey once in 2019.

You can purchase these jerseys online now.

What are your thoughts on the centennial classic jersey the Bears will be sporting in 2019?
