Bears Training Camp: Trey Burton returns to practice

While the Bears don’t have any glaring holes on their roster, there’s been one area of concern that’s developed over the past couple of weeks: Tight end.

Trey Burton arrived at training camp recovering from sports hernia surgery, and he appeared to be good to go.

That is until one scheduled day off turned into five scheduled days off. Matt Nagy insisted Burton hadn’t experienced a setback, and it was a precautionary measure.

But there’s good news: Burton is back at practice in Bourbonnais for the first time since Thursday, Aug. 1.

There have been concerns whether or not Burton will be good to go by the regular season opener on Sept. 5, as he’s a key cog in Matt Nagy’s offense.

In Burton’s absence, undrafted rookies Ian Bunting and Dax Raymond have gotten some chances to shine.

There’s more good news, Adam Shaheen looks full-go at practice.

Shaheen tweaked something in his lower back earlier in camp, which forced him to miss a couple of practices. But he’s been back at practice working his way back.

For Shaheen, the key will be for him to stay healthy for an entire season, something he hasn’t been able to do in his first two seasons.
