Bears training camp: Matt Nagy says Ha Ha Clinton-Dix close to returning

One of the biggest losses the Chicago Bears suffered this offseason was the departure of safety Adrian Amos, who signed a lucrative free-agent contract with the Green Bay Packers. In his place, GM Ryan Pace signed former first-round pick Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, who’s expected to start alongside Eddie Jackson.

If he’s healthy, that is.

Clinton-Dix is beginning training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform (“PUP”) list because of a knee injury suffered at the end of minicamp. And while the injury has been described as minor, the timetable for the sixth-year pro’s return has not been determined.

Coach Matt Nagy thinks he’s close, at least that’s what he told reporters in Bourbonnais, Ill at Bears training camp Friday.

Clinton-Dix’s injury will create an opportunity for players like DeAndre Houston-Carson and Deon Bush to make their mark. Only one of them is likely to make the final roster, assuming Clinton-Dix makes a speedy recovery as expected.
