Bears to sign former Panthers RB D’Onta Foreman

Apparently, the Chicago Bears wanted a bit more from the Carolina Panthers than a bunch of draft picks and DJ Moore.

Less than 24 hours after striking a deal with quarterback PJ Walker, the Bears have agreed to terms with running back D’Onta Foreman. The deal, as first reported by ESPN lead NFL insider Adam Schefter, is a one-year pact worth $3 million.

Foreman is fresh off the best campaign of his five-year career—one in which he recorded personal-highs in starts (nine), carries (203), rushing yards (914), yards per attempt (4.5) and touchdowns (five). His efforts led the way in establishing a ground-and-pound identity for the previously punchless Panthers offense following the trade of star Christian McCaffrey.

The Panthers had reportedly offered Foreman a deal prior to the start of free agency. Carolina since signed former Philadelphia Eagles running back Miles Sanders to a four-year contract worth approximately $25 million.
