Bears to re-sign quarterback David Fales in light of Jay Cutler's shoulder injury

The Bears are re-signing quarterback David Fales to the active roster in light of Jay Cutler's potentially-season-ending shoulder injury, a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed Tuesday.

Fales was waived by the Bears on Sept. 3 during final cuts after spending the previous two seasons with the team. He had been on the Baltimore Ravens' practice squad, where he reunited with now-deposed offensive coordinator Marc Trestman.

Cutler is believed to have a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder, according to an NFL Media report. Such an injury requires surgery in many cases. The Bears are expecting clarity on Cutler's status for the remainder of the season as soon as today. But as the Fales signing indicates, he is expected to miss time.

In other roster moves, the Bears re-signed cornerback De'Vante Bausby, who was waived on Saturday to create space on the active roster.

They signed receiver Dres Anderson to the practice squad and waived receiver Darius Jennings from the practice squad.
