Bears to donate $1 million to charity during 100th-season celebration

With draft week upon us, the Bears decided to unveil a different type of selection process — one that fans are able to partake in — and it’s all for charity.

On Monday, the Bears announced a new campaign to donate $1 million dollars to 10 charities in 2019, another way the organization is celebrating their 100th season. According to Larry Mayer of Chicagobears.com, all 10 charities will be nominated by fans across the state and the Bears’ defined market. Nine of the 10 charities will be selected by an internal committee and announced this summer. The final charity will be narrowed down to three choices and will be voted on by fans beginning in October. Charities selected will also be honored at a 2019 home game.

Fans can nominate charities now through May 31. More information can be found on the Chicago Bears Community All-Pros page.

The Bears have committed to giving a significant amount of money back to the communities in recent months. Ownership and players committed $500,000 to social justice programs last fall, making them the first NFL team to do so. This initiative is another tremendous example of the work the Bears are doing to make a difference in the Chicagoland area.
