With the season opener four days away, the Bears didn’t have Trey Burton on the field during the period of practice open to the media Sunday.
Burton has been working back from a sports hernia for months and was in and out of practice during the preseason.
Bears coach Matt Nagy said repeatedly he had no concerns about his availability for the Packers game, which is Thursday at soldier Field. He also said the team will likely keep Burton on a maintenance plan, which could mean missing practice time.
Nagy did not mention Burton’s status in his press conference before practice, but will address it Monday. The NFL does not require the Bears and Packers to release an injury report until after their practices Monday.
Burton is coming off a career year of 54 catches, 569 yards and six touchdowns.
