ATLANTA – The Bears’ day went from bad to worse Sunday when running back Tarik Cohen was carted from the sideline to the locker room in the fourth quarter.

Cohen, the team’s do-everything running back, was fielding a punt when the Falcons’ Brian Hill was pushed into his lower right leg. Cohen was taken to the Bears’ injury tent, and later carted the short distance to the Mercedes-Benz Stadium tunnel.

Cohen was almost immediately ruled out with a knee injury. Bears coach Matt Nagy said the team believes he tore the anterior cruciate ligament. He’ll miss the rest of the season.

Just eight days ago, the Bears gave Cohen a three-year contract extension worth $17.25 million in new money. Cohen signed, in part, to mitigate any injury risk in the final season of his rookie contract. He joked that he left money on the table for receiver Allen Robinson, who wants a new deal.

The former fourth-round draft pick out of North Carolina A&T had two runs for 21 yards and three catches for 20 more agains the Falcons.
