Bears stars will play against Lions

Bears outside linebacker Khalil Mack will play Sunday | Charles Rex Arbogast/AP

The Bears got good news Sunday morning: every starter that was ruled questionable for the Lions game was cleared to play.

That means outside linebacker Khalil Mack (back), defensive lineman Akiem Hicks (hamstring), receivers Allen Robinson and Darnell Mooney (knees) and backup quarterback Nick Foles (hip) will be in uniform for the must-win game at Soldier Field.

Inside linebacker Roquan Smith and right guard Alex Bars, who did not practice Friday but mysteriously didn’t receive an injury designation for Sunday’s game, will play, too. Nagy said Friday he anticipated Smith would play, but ducked questions about whether his absence was related to the coronavirus.

Tackles Charles Leno (toe) and Germain Ifedi (calf) will start after being ruled questionable. So will linebacker Josh Woods (foot).

The Bears listed nine players as questionable — not counting Smith and Bars — on Friday. On Saturday, they ruled out outside linebacker James Vaughters.

Mack didn’t practice until Friday of this week, while Hicks returned on Thursday after missing 16 days with a hamstring injury suffered against the Vikings. Foles, who was also hurt against the Vikings, will be the second-string quarterback behind Mitch Trubisky.

Receiver Javon Wims will play for the first time since being ejected for punching a Saints player on Nov. 1.

Bears players who will be inactive Sunday are running back Artavis Pierce, offensive lineman Lachavious Simmons, defensive lineman Daniel McCullers, receiver Riley Ridley and Vaughters.
