Bears sign Utah State TE Dax Raymond

The Chicago Bears were expected to add a tight end in the 2019 NFL draft, and while the draft board forced GM Ryan Pace in a different direction, he still managed to sign a promising prospect at the position.

Utah State’s Dax Raymond agreed to an undrafted free agent contract with the Bears.

Raymond (6-5, 255 pounds) ran a 4.73 40-yard dash at the 2019 NFL combine and was considered a solid all-around prospect after a collegiate career that produced 72 catches for 873 yards and three touchdowns through three meaningful seasons.

Raymond isn’t the kind of player who can challenge Adam Shaheen for a roster spot, but he has enough upside to push to be the final tight end on the active roster or for a place on the practice squad.
