Needing some coronavirus coverage with Mitch Trubisky nursing a right shoulder injury, the Bears signed quarterback Kyle Sloter to the practice squad Tuesday.

Sloter was signed with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2017 and has played for the Vikings, Cardinals and Lions. He’s never appeared in a regular-season game, though.

Since the end of high school, Sloter has started one season at quarterback: in 2016 with Northern Colorado, when he completed 198-of-319 passes for 3,656 yards, 29 scores and 10 interceptions. He played receiver at Southern Miss before transferring to Northern Colorado, when he caught passes and returned punts for a season.

The Bears also signed defensive tackle Anthony Rush, who played in nine games for the Eagles last season and four with the Seahawks this year, to the active roster. He’ll help a position group that has lost Roy Robertson-Harris — sources confirmed Monday he’s headed for shoulder surgery — and nose tackle John Jenkins.
