Dec. 03--Information for this report was obtained from NFL scouts.
Dez Bryant is in his fifth season and leads the Cowboys with 67 receptions for 952 yards and 10 touchdowns. While the 6-foot-2, 220-pounder isn't on pace for career figures in any category, the offense is running the ball much more this season with DeMarco Murray, who is the NFL's runaway leader in rushing with 1,427 yards.
"I think he is the best receiver in the league right now when you look at an overall skill set and the complete body of work," one scout said. "This is a guy with excellent vertical speed, a very good route runner and someone with excellent lateral movement who is explosive after the catch. You talk about catching radius and he can go up and high point the ball. His body is so developed. Look at his upper body. He runs through jams and he pushes off a lot at the point of attack. He is going to create separation if he doesn't get it in the route. He just strong-arms defensive backs.
"He's more polished as a route runner than he was earlier in his career. He has learned to take advantage of defensive backs depending on how they play him -- off or in press. The Bears probably won't play Cover-2 because of DeMarco and that means one-on-one matchups for Dez. The rookie (Kyle Fuller) and (Tim) Jennings are going to have their work cut out."
