Bears request to interview Bills OC Brian Daboll for head coach job

The Chicago Bears have wasted no time setting up interviews with candidates for their vacant general manager and head coach positions after firing Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy.

Bears Chairman George McCaskey will head the search for a new head coach and GM, alongside President/CEO Ted Phillips and Hall of Fame executive Bill Polian.

All eyes are on Chicago and their head coach search, where McCaskey said they won’t necessarily look for an offensive or defensive guy. They’re looking for the best guy and leader for the job.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Bears have requested to interview Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll for their head coaching vacancy.

Daboll has worked in the NFL since 2000, where he’s served as offensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns (2009-10), Miami Dolphins (2011), Kansa sCity Chiefs (2012) and now the Buffalo Bills (2018-present). He also served as Alabama’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2017.

While the Bears aren’t looking just for an offensive guru, if Daboll proves he’s best for the job, it wouldn’t hurt to have someone who’s developed a young quarterback. Chicago hopes Justin Fields is the future of the franchise, and perhaps someone like Daboll can get him there.

The Bears have also requested to interview former Eagles head coach Doug Pederson and Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier.
