Bears re-sign outside linebacker Aaron Lynch to one-year deal

Aaron Lynch’s one-year, “prove it” contract with the Chicago Bears evidently didn’t prove as much as he had hoped to the rest of the NFL.

After testing the free agent market for a few weeks, the veteran outside linebacker re-signed with the Bears on a one-year deal.

Lynch recorded three sacks in 13 games last season, and he didn’t necessarily eliminate concerns about his durability.

He still hasn’t played a full 16 games since his rookie season, missing time with a concussion and an elbow injury this year.

Lynch visited with the Seattle Seahawks, Oakland Raiders and Indianapolis Colts during free agency, but ultimately decided to return to the reining No. 1 defense in the NFL.

He’s still only 26 years old with lots of football still in front of him, and he answers a lingering depth question mark for the Bears at outside linebacker.

Now, he has another year to “prove it” to the rest of the NFL.
