Bears RB Jordan Howard suffers eye injury, doesn't travel to Arizona

Bears running back Jordan Howard was one of 11 players who did not travel with the team to Arizona on Friday. Howard suffered a corneal abrasion during a walk-through earlier in the day, according to a team spokesperson.

And while the Bears figure it to be a minor injury, it's enough to keep their top running back out of action Saturday night for the second exhibition game against the Cardinals.

Howard finished second in the NFL in rushing as a rookie last season, piling up 1,313 yards and averaging 5.2 yards per carry. He had only three rushes for 4 yards in the exhibition loss to the Broncos last week.

It remains to be seen how long Howard will be sidelined. But his absence against the Cardinals is a notable setback for an offense searching for reliable playmakers. The Bears already face major questions about their receivers, offensive line and quarterbacks.

Other players who didn't make the trip include Kyle Long, Danny Trevathan, Markus Wheaton, Jeremy Langford, Bryce Callahan, Jonathan Anderson, Mitch Unrein, Josh Bellamy, Kapron Lewis-Moore and Alex Scearse.
