Bears running back David Montgomery returned to practice Friday, two days after rolling his ankle.
That’s a positive step toward the rookie playing Sunday against the Rams. The Bears listed him as questionable after he was limited in practice.
“He’s going to end up being a game-time decision for us,” coach Matt Nagy said.
Tight end Trey Burton and Adam Shaheen were both ruled out for Sunday. Burton didn’t practice all week because of a calf injury, while Shaheen didn’t practice the last two days because of a foot injury.
Inside linebacker Danny Trevathan, who suffered a grisly left elbow injury Sunday, is out. So is backup outside linebacker Isaiah Irving, who has a quad injury.
If Montgomery can’t play, the Bears figure to lean on some combination of Tarik Cohen, Ryan Nall and Cordarrelle Patterson. Cohen isn’t an every-down back, Nall doesn’t have a single regular-season carry and Patterson is a running back.
