The Bears will get one of their core players back on offense with running back David Montgomery out of the concussion protocol. He intends to practice all week and play Sunday against the Packers.

Montgomery suffered a concussion Nov. 8 against the Titans and missed the ensuing game against the Vikings. Coming out of the bye week, he is fully cleared.

“I’m ready to go,” he said Wednesday.

Montgomery is having a rough season as the Bears sit at the bottom of the NFL in rushing and has just 472 yards and one touchdown on 131 carries. That said, he is a far better option as the Bears’ primary running back than Cordarrelle Patterson, Artavis Pierce, Ryan Nall or Lamar Miller.

The Bears finished with 41 yards rushing on 17 attempts in their 19-13 loss to the Vikings last week. Patterson led them in rushing with 30 yards on 12 carries.
