Bears’ Rashaad Coward expected to get start at right guard vs. Saints

The Chicago Bears’ offensive line will look a little different against the New Orleans Saints.

After Kyle Long was placed on season-ending injured reserve Monday, there was a vacancy at the right guard position that would be filled by veteran Ted Larsen, Rashaad Coward or rookie Alex Bars, who was elevated to the 53-man roster earlier this week.

According to the Chicago Tribune’s Brad Biggs, it’ll be the developmental project Coward that’s expected to make his first career start at right guard against the Saints.

Coward, a converted defensive tackle, saw his first game action earlier this season against the Minnesota Vikings, where he filled in for the injured Larsen, who was filling in for the injured Long.

Larsen was a limited participant in practice Wednesday and Thursday, and there might’ve been some hesitancy there on Chicago’s front to start the veteran.

We’ll see what this offensive line looks like with Coward at right guard and two weeks to address the concerns regarding the offensive line.

The Bears and Saints kickoff at 3:25 C.T. on FOX.
