Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has been cleared by the team's medical staff and figures to return to practice Tuesday morning at Halas Hall.
Coach John Fox made that announcement Monday afternoon and confirmed that Cutler is in line to start on Halloween night against the Vikings at Soldier Field. Cutler has missed the Bears' past five games after suffering a sprained right thumb, an injury that chased him from the Bears' Week 2 loss to the Eagles.
Cutler's return comes at a convenient time, with Brian Hoyer now likely headed for Injured Reserve after breaking his left arm in Thursday night's loss to the Packers.
"Obviously Jay's our starter," Fox said. "He was injured and not permitted to play medically. And now that he's healed he's back to being our starter. That's really the facts and kind of what happened and where we're at now."
