NASHVILLE, Tenn. — In likely the last action he’ll see for a long time, quarterback Nick Foles was almost perfect in the second half Saturday. The Bears quarterback went 10-for-13 for 142 yards, two touchdowns and a passer rating of 151.3 in the Bears’ 27-24 win.
A perfect passer rating is 158.3.
Foles had tried only three exhibition game passes leading up to Saturday, a sign of his third-string status.
The Bears have tried to trade Foles since the spring, though the market for him has been cool. Foles said that earlier in training camp that, were he DEALT, he wanted to go somewhere that was a good fit for him. It’s more expensive for the Bears to keep Foles than to cut him.
Foles threw both his touchdowns to tight end Jesper Horsted, who finished with five catches for 104 yards and three scores.
With about seven minutes left, the Bears took the lead when Foles threw a 54-yard touchdown to Horsted, who caught the ball one-handed at the Titans’ 40 and sprinted down the right sideline, pointing with his left arm toward the end zone.
“It wasn’t really a conscious decision [to catch with one hand] — it just felt like that was my best chance,” Horsted said.
He said pointing toward the end zone “is not usually my style — but I was just really excited.”
