Mitch Trubisky hurt his shoulder in Sunday’s game against the Saints, according to NFL Network.
The Bears’ backup quarterback was on the field for only one play — a three-yard run out of the “Wildcat” formation in the first quarter. It marked Trubisky’s first game action since he was benched following a third-quarter interception against the Falcons in Week 3.
The severity of the injury is still being evaluated, per NFL Network.
Bears coach Matt Nagy will address the media — and the team will release its injury report — following practice later Wednesday. The Bears’ media policy prevents reporters from detailing practice attendance before its conclusion.
Nick Foles is the Bears’ starter and Trubisky is the only other quarterback on the active roster. Tyler Bray, though, is on the practice squad.
After Trubisky’s one play Sunday, coach Matt Nagy was asked about the possibility of using the former No. 2 overall pick in limited packages going forward.
“It’s a weapon for us to be able to use his legs, and then obviously be able to throw the ball as well,” Nagy said. “That’s something that we’re looking at, and every game could be a little bit different, but it’s something that teams have to prepare for.”
