Bears QB Mitch Trubisky doubtful for Week 5 vs. Raiders

The Chicago Bears notched an impressive win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, but they lost their starting quarterback in the process.

Mitch Trubisky left Sunday’s game on the Bears’ first drive of the game after he landed awkwardly on his left shoulder. He soon returned to the sideline with a sling on his left shoulder.

Bears coach Matt Nagy didn’t provide any context other than Trubisky would undergo testing on Monday and hopefully he’d know as early as Monday, perhaps Tuesday about Trubisky’s status.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport is reporting that Trubisky is doubtful for the Bears’ Week 5 game against the Oakland Raiders.

The good news is that, unlike last season, the injury isn’t to Trubisky’s throwing shoulder. Although we’ll see the extent of the injury and the timetable for his return.

The Bears have a bye week after Sunday’s game against the Raiders which, if Trubisky is able to play through his shoulder injury, would give him two weeks to rest up.

More specifics are likely to come when testing is complete and Nagy meets with the media.

Backup QB Chase Daniel, who relieved Trubisky on Sunday, looks to get the start vs. Raiders.
