LOS ANGELES — With the Bears behind by 10, backup Chase Daniel entered the game with about three-and-a-half minutes to play against the Rams. Starter Mitch Trubisky — to whom the Bears had pledged loyalty despite his struggles this season — had a hip injury, according to the team.
It might have been too little, too late. In four possessions since their third-quarter touchdown, Trubisky led the team to one first down — a holding penalty on a play in which he was sacked by Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald.
Daniel was ineffective, throwing an incompletion on fourth-and-14 to give the Rams the ball back at their own 21.
Trubisky stood on the sideline to watch Daniel’s series.
Trubisky missed one start this season — the loss to the Raiders in London — with a shoulder problem.
