Bears place CB Kyler Gordon on injured reserve

The Chicago Bears have placed cornerback Kyler Gordon on injured reserve, the team announced Thursday. Gordon suffered a hand injury in Sunday’s loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Gordon will miss at least the next four games, and he’s eligible to return Sunday, Oct. 15 when the Bears host the Vikings at Soldier Field.

In last Sunday’s loss to the Packers, Gordon recorded one tackle and one pass breakup before getting injured in the fourth quarter.

With Gordon landing on injured reserve, Chicago has promoted Greg Stroman Jr. to the active roster from the practice squad. They’ve also re-signed undrafted rookie cornerback Macon Clark to the practice squad.

As for Gordon’s potential replacement at nickel cornerback, head coach Matt Eberflus said Wednesday they are “looking at all of our options.” It’s worth noting Josh Blackwell stepped in for Gordon in last Sunday’s loss to the Packers, so he should be the favorite.

But Blackwell was a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice as he deals with a hamstring injury, which is something worth monitoring ahead of Sunday’s game.
