Bears-Packers Week 1 opener garners impressive TV ratings

While the Chicago Bears failed to impress in their season opener against the Green Bay Packers, the ratings for Thursday night’s game were another story.

Thursday’s NFL Kickoff Game delivered a 15.3 overnight rating, which is up 14 percent from last season. It was the league’s highest-rated NFL Kickoff Game since 2016 and the best for any sporting event since Super Bowl LII.

The Bears were well aware of the huge spotlight that came with the NFL Kickoff Game, but they didn’t appear prepared for it. They scored just three points in the loss to the Packers, which prompted many concerns on the offensive side of the football.

Hopefully the Bears fare better on their next five national broadcasts, including in two weeks against the Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football.
