Bears open as 3.5-point favorites over Saints in Week 7

The Chicago Bears (3-2) have had a long week to sit with their Week 5 loss to the Oakland Raiders (3-2). But they’ve also had a week to a

The Bears return to Soldier Field on Sunday for a match-up against the New Orleans Saints (5-1), who are rolling even without starting quarterback Drew Brees.

The Bears have opened as 3.5-point favorites over the Saints, according to BetMGM.

Chicago will face quarterback Teddy Bridgewater as Brees continues to rehab from a thumb injury on his throwing hand. But the encouraging news is that it doesn’t appear this Week 7 game will be a back-up quarterback fest.

Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky, who dislocated his left shoulder on the first series against the Vikings in Week 4, is on track for a return to the lineup on Sunday.

But there are still a myriad of concerns on offense for Chicago, including quarterback. The offensive line needs to do better, as do running backs, receivers and tight ends.

The Bears defense is coming off a disappointing performance — its first of the season — against the Raiders, where the league’s second-best run defense allowed 169 yards on the ground, including 123 yards to rookie running back Josh Jacobs.

Chicago is likely to be without defensive tackle Akiem Hicks for the foreseeable future, but they might be close to getting defensive lineman Bilal Nichols back. Nichols broke his hand against the Denver Broncos in Week 2, and Nichols is expected to wear a club in his return.
