Bears NT Eddie Goldman has reported for training camp

One of the biggest storylines for the Chicago Bears this offseason has been the status of stud nose tackle Eddie Goldman, who opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns.

Everyone from Ryan Pace to new defensive coordinator Sean Desai expressed their confidence in Goldman’s return in 2021. But it didn’t become an issue until Goldman skipped mandatory minicamp last month, which left many speculating about his future.

Goldman seemed to silence those concerns when videos of him working out in Chicago surfaced. Although those concerns weren’t going to be alleviated until Goldman actually reported.

But the good news is that Goldman has officially reported for training camp, according to Bears linebacker Roquan Smith, who saw Goldman at Halas Hall on Tuesday afternoon and said “he looks pretty good.”

When general manager Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy met with the media Tuesday morning, as players were still arriving to camp, Pace indicated that Goldman would be at Halas Hall and ready to practice this week.

“All indications are that he’s in good shape; he’s been working hard,” Pace said.

Which is good news for a Bears defense that missed Goldman’s presence on the defensive line last season, especially against the run. While it sounds like Goldman looks good to go, all eyes will be on him as he practices with the team for the first time since the end of the 2019 season.
