Former Falcons WR shows off great hands in mini-camp; Nagy: “I’m proud of him.”
Bears wide receiver Marvin Hall was a fringe player on the Falcons the past two seasons — he caught 10 passes for 149 yards and a touchdown last season while averaging 23.7 yards on 26 kickoff returns in 2018. But in Matt Nagy’s offense, everybody is a candidate to surprise.
The 5-10, 190-pound Hall has showed off his good hands in practice this week — and his ability to learn well — which caught the attention of Nagy, among others.
“He made a few mistakes early on,” Nagy said. “He ran a bench-route instead of an in-route. [But] after he made that mistake he’s been really good. He’s a fast receiver. He’s got really good hands. He’s where everybody else was last year learning this offense, so he’s a little behind there. But he’s picked it up great and I’m proud of him.”
Punky QB
Mitch Trubisky bonded with Bears Super Bowl winning quarterback Jim McMahon during the Bears100 Celebration Weekend in Rosemont.
“It was really awesome to see him and spend time with him,” Trubisky said. “He talked a lot about toughness. Obviously we know about him playing through injuries, wanting to always be out there competing, a very high character, always wanting to win. He said if you just give it all for these fans and win big games, they’ll love you back. That’s something I took from this weekend.”
Mutual respect
Cornerback Prince Amukamara was among many who felt the pride former Bears felt in the success of the current team at the Bears100 event.
“One part that was very surprising is that as much as we were giddy and excited to meet them, I felt like that same response was reciprocated by them. You see Richard Dent and Khalil talking it up, Mike Ditka and coach. They were just as excited to talk to us.”
