With the Chicago Bears’ season winding down, we’re ramping up toward what’s expected to be a busy offseason. But the one storyline that’s been dominating headlines is the impending firing of head coach Matt Nagy.
On Wednesday morning, Boomer Esiason reported that Nagy has been informed that he will not return to the Bears next season. Nagy addressed that report saying that he hasn’t been told Sunday is his last game with the Bears.
“I would say that anybody that has a report that is gonna talk to somebody who talked to somebody who talked to somebody, it’s probably best just to … call me up and ask me. I promise you I’ll tell you the truth. You know what I mean? I’m a pretty good source.”

Now, that doesn’t mean that Nagy won’t be fired. You’ll be hard pressed to find anyone who believes Nagy will be the Bears head coach next season. And even if Nagy suspects he’ll be fired, it sounds like the Bears organization is waiting to tell him following the conclusion of the season.
That’ll likely happen Monday morning when Nagy meets with Chairman George McCaskey and the front office, which is custom for the end of the season.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport previously reported that the Bears will begin their head coaching search following Week 18.
