The Bears agreed to a four-year, $58.4 million contract extension with two-time Pro Bowl safety Eddie Jackson on Friday, his agency announced.
The deal includes $33 million guaranteed, and the average annual salary of $14.6 million makes him the highest-paid safety in NFL history.
It’s a landmark deal for both sides. Jackson is arguably the best draft pick of Bears general manager Ryan Pace’s career — he took him in the fourth round at No. 112 overall in 2017. For Jackson’s part, he played his first three seasons for a total of $2.7 million.
Jackson has been a full-time starter from the day he arrived and has 10 interceptions, 184 tackles, five fumble recoveries and two touchdowns in three seasons. He was selected as an all-pro last season.
