CHICAGO _ Another week, another major injury. The Bears left Soldier Field on Sunday afternoon, still struggling to digest their 27-21 loss to the Titans, a defeat that came with an abundance of missed opportunities, many of which could've swung the final outcome. Just as galling, however, was the loss of another high-profile starter.
Inside linebacker Danny Trevathan suffered a significant injury to his right knee with 2:47 to play, a setback that may ultimately be season-ending.
Bears coach John Fox noted after Sunday's loss that Trevathan's injury "appears to be serious." The Bears will know more about the severity on Monday after Trevathan completes additional medical testing. But as of Sunday evening, Fox was already bracing for the worst.
With fellow starter Jerrell Freeman already out until Week 16, serving a four-game suspension for performance-enhancing drug use, the Bears finished Sunday's game with Nick Kwiatkoski and John Timu at inside linebacker.
Trevathan was charging to make a play in the backfield on Titans running back Derrick Henry when his leg buckled and he slid to the grass. Trevathan appeared to be in agony immediately and had to be helped off the field with, unable to put much weight on his right leg.
