Bears land CB, OT in new 2020 2-round mock draft

Is it crazy, maybe borderline insane, to talk about the 2020 NFL draft in June? Maybe. But it’s still fun.

It’s even more fun for Chicago Bears fans, who suffered through the 2019 NFL draft without a first- or second-round pick. That won’t be the case next April when the Bears pick twice in the second round thanks in part to the package they received from Oakland in the Khalil Mack trade.

Chicago has Oakland’s second-rounder in addition to their own. There’s a good chance the Bears will end up with a top-50 pick if the Raiders struggle to be better than a .500 team.

According to the latest Super Bowl odds, Oakland’s pick will be like icing on the Khalil Mack cake.

The Draft Wire published a new two-round mock draft Monday that addressed two potential need areas for the Bears next spring at picks No. 41 and 56.

At the 41st pick (Oakland’s), Chicago grabs Alabama cornerback Trevon Diggs. This would be a great value pick for the Bears, as Diggs is currently rated 11th on Mel Kiper’s 2020 NFL Draft Big Board.

At No. 56, Chicago selects Auburn offensive tackle Prince Tega Wanogho. This would be a pick with an eye toward the future. The Bears have Charles Leno and Bobby Massie locked up for the next several seasons, but depth at tackle is never a bad thing. And despite paying Massie like one of the better right tackles in the NFL, he’s still a pretty flawed player. If an upgrade can be had in the draft, go for it.
