Bears' Kyle Long reveals mystery of the missing wallet

Dec. 04--The mystery of Kyle Long's lost wallet and its warm resolution became even clearer Thursday at Halas Hall. The right tackle detailed how he had lost it Monday night and later got it back thanks to Lake Forest trash collector Dan Hughes.

To reward the city worker, Long offered tickets to this weekend's Bears game against the 49ers at Soldier Field.

After attending dinner with the offensive line Monday evening, Long returned home and believes he dropped his wallet in his driveway while getting out of the car. When he left for Halas Hall the next morning, he decided he didn't need his wallet and would look for it when he got back.

"Then I got a call," Long said. "Like, 'Hey, the waste management services just dropped off your wallet.' I was like, 'That's so random.' And I drove my car out to try to find where he was. ... I tracked him down and I'm honking at him. And he's like, 'What is this guy honking at me for?'"

Long asked Hughes if he had returned his wallet and then offered his thanks for the good deed.

"Somebody told me that the city was going to put a restraint on the ability for him to accept a gift," Long said. "Well, we're friends now. I met the guy. So I can give my friend a ticket or two. Good things happen to good people. That's a really good guy and hopefully he continues to be himself."
