EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Guard Kyle Long didn’t accompany the Bears to their second preseason game Friday night, sources confirmed. The team later said he did not fly with his teammates.

Two nights earlier, Long was involved in a fight during the Bears’ practice game on the back field at Halas Hall. Long ripped teammate Jalen Dalton’s helmet off his head and motioned to hit Dalton with it repeatedly before throwing the helmet away.

He did not return to practice, but watched from the sideline.

“It was just disappointing, you know,” coach Matt Nagy said after the practice. “But we’ll handle that internally and make sure that we do it the right way.”

Asked later about the fight later, Nagy said that it fell below the team’s standards.

“Again, it’s all that kind of stuff where we’re more mature than that,” Nagy said. “I know that I personally expect more from us.”

The Bears aren’t playing many starters Friday night.
