Bears kickers end minicamp on a high note

The Chicago Bears are officially in hibernation until training camp kicks off late-July, but before coach Matt Nagy set his roster free for the next five weeks, he had kickers Eddy Pineiro and Jake Elliott take part in one more pressure-filled situation.

Both players were forced to attempt 40-yard field goals to end practice. If they missed? Gassers. If they connected? Vacation.

They both connected.

This is the kind of momentum the Bears need from their kicking game heading into training camp, even if it was just a 40-yard attempt. And while other teams’ fan bases are bound to have a good laugh or two because of a few easy kicks, it’s still something of a positive for this roster to have two kickers who are trending in the right direction this summer.

Training camp and preseason games will ultimately decide which kicker is the last man standing come September 8.
