Bears’ Justin Jones trashed ‘obnoxious’ Packers fans in an obvious (but extremely effective!) bit of pandering

For the better part of three decades, the Green Bay Packers have held almost complete dominion over their historic rival, the Chicago Bears. The difference in quality between the two was especially stark during the Aaron Rodgers era, where Chicago beat Green Bay a grand total of five times in Rodgers’ 15 years as a starter.

This has been less of a “rivalry” and more of an appointment date for the Bears to take a beating and requisite dip in the NFC North standings.

Judging by how Bears defensive tackle Justin Jones spouted off on Tuesday, he seems to expect the tide to change in favor of Chicago’s blue and orange. And soon. That or a non-star defender in just his second year at Halas Hall wants to deliver Bears fans their favorite red meat — a burning hatred of Packers fans.

I don’t deny that Jones probably does really hate the Packers and their fans. I’m sure he really does believe that the new-look Bears behind Justin Fields would fare better against Rodgers if he was still a member of the Packers. But I’m also certain this speech was Jones finding a (rather obvious) outlet to pander to a fanbase desperate to see the Packers and their fans where they think they belong — in the NFL’s basement.

What most convinces me is how Jones seamlessly pivots from his Rodgers disposition to a random jumble of “obnoxious” insults about Green Bay supporters. That is a man who understands how to become royalty in Chicago. Say you despise the Packers while actually wearing a Bears uniform, and you’ll never have to buy a dinner within the city limits again.

Well, as long as you actually help defeat the Packers. Given the limited sample size on that front, results may vary.

This was how Twitter reacted to Jones' obvious pandering about Packers hatred
