Bears ink Riley Ridley, Kerrith Whyte, Stephen Denmark to rookie deals

The Chicago Bears inked more than half of their 2019 draft picks to rookie deals on Monday.

Wide receiver Riley Ridley, running back Kerrith Whyte and cornerback Stephen Denmark each signed standard four-year contracts with the Bears.

Ridley, a fourth-round selection, will make about $3.8 million, according to Patrick Finley of the Sun-Times, the same amount allotted to last year’s No. 126 pick, Atlanta Falcons running back Ito Smith.

As for seventh-round selections Whyte and Denmark, they’ll receive deals around $2.56 million and $2.54 million respectively, based on last year’s contracts.

The only two Bears draft picks that remain unsigned are third-round running back David Montgomery and sixth-round cornerback Duke Shelley.

Those signings should go more smoothly than last summer, where first-round selection Roquan Smith held out through training camp, which centered around negotiations of contract language.

The Bears were the final team to sign their entire rookie class in 2018, but that shouldn’t be the case in 2019.
