Bears ILB Danny Trevathan exits game with gruesome elbow injury

The Bears already lost one of their key defensive leaders in defensive tackle Akiem Hicks to an elbow injury earlier this season. Now, they may have lost another to a similar injury.

Inside linebacker and team captain Danny Trevathan exited Sunday’s game against the Lions with an elbow injury after taking down quarterback Jeff Driskell in the first quarter. He is questionable to return.

Trevathan immediately ran to the sidelines after the play to undergo further examination. Warning: the video is considered graphic.

The extent of the injury is unknown at this point, but surgeon and former NFL team Dr. David Chao indicated the news won’t be good for the veteran linebacker.

Nick Kwiatkoski has replaced Trevathan in the lineup. The Bears trail the Lions 3-0 midway through the second quarter.
