Report: Bears hosting safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix for free agent visit

The Chicago Bears didn’t want to pay Adrian Amos $9 million a year, but they might be interested in paying a different top safety on the free agent market.

Ryan Pace is pursuing former Green Bay Packers first-round pick Ha Ha Clinton-Dix.

Clinton-Dix was traded from Green Bay to Washington during the 2018 season, presumably lowering his value after some strong years with the Packers.

The 26-year-old was college teammates with Bears safety Eddie Jackson for one season at Alabama, so they could be in line for a reunion in Chicago.

The Packers signed Amos away from Chicago, and the Bears could replace him with one of Green Bay’s former safeties, who’s known for a little bit more playmaking ability than the previous starter at strong safety.

Washington is also interested in re-signing Clinton-Dix, so the potential bidding war is a factor to keep an eye on.

It would speak volumes if Pace was willing to spend a lot on this free agent safety after letting his own former draft pick sign with a division rival at a reasonable, market-level price.
