Bears host veteran CB Kayvon Webster for a visit

After adding two developmental cornerbacks in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears are turning to the open market for some possible depth.

The Bears hosted veteran cornerback Kayvon Webster for a visit on Wednesday at Halas Hall.

The good news? Webster presents as an intriguing option for much-needed depth in the defensive backfield.

The bad news? Webster has been ravished by injuries, separate Achilles and thigh injuries, that limited his playing time with the Texans last season.

Webster has appeared in 67 games in his six years in the NFL, including 15 starts, where hw has two interceptions and 21 passes defensed in his career. He saw his most action with the Rams two years ago logging one interception and seven batted passes in 11 starts.

The Bears have their starters at cornerback locked in with Kyle Fuller and Prince Amukamara on the outside and free agent addition Buster Skrine covering the slot. Chicago also drafted Kansas State’s Duke Shelley and Valdosta State’s Stephen Denmark as developmental projects.
