Bears free agent CB Bryce Callahan to visit Broncos

Chicago Bears free agent cornerback Bryce Callahan will visit the Denver Broncos, The Denver Post‘s Ryan O’Halloran reported Friday. The news has since been confirmed by multiple media outlets.

Callahan (5-10, 188 pounds) spent the last four years playing under Vic Fangio, who was Chicago’s defensive coordinator. Fangio is now Denver’s head coach and he’s obviously familiar with Callahan.

After joining the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Rice in 2015, Callahan spent most of his rookie season in a rotational role. He won a starting job in 2016 and started 26 games over the last three years.

Callahan has totaled 123 tackles, four sacks and four interceptions in his career. He has also broken up 21 passes and forced one fumble. If he signs with the Broncos, Callahan would likely become the team’s No. 3 cornerback behind Chris Harris and new arrival Kareem Jackson.

Or, if Jackson plays as a safety, Callahan could be the team’s No. 2 cornerback. Callahan will turn 28 in October.
